How to Remove Solder with a Desoldering Wick?

  1. Preparation:

Make sure you have a suitable desoldering wick, soldering iron and soldering flux.

The desoldering wick is generally a copper braided tape with good solder absorption performance.

  2. Heat the solder joint:

Use a soldering iron to heat the solder joint that needs to be desoldered to fully melt the solder on the joint.

  3. Place the desoldering wick:

Place the desoldering wick on the melted solder and let the desoldering wick come into full contact with the solder.

  4. Absorb the solder:

Due to the capillary action of the desoldering wick, the melted solder will be sucked into the desoldering wick.

Keep the soldering iron heating the solder joint and gently move the desoldering wick at the same time so that

the desoldering wick can absorb as much solder as possible.

  5. Check and clean:

Remove the soldering iron and check if the solder on the solder joint has been completely removed.

If there is still residue, you can repeat the above steps until the solder on the solder joint is completely removed.

Finally, use soldering flux to clean the remaining impurities and so on.
